Just make sure you manually unmount and remount the drive when prompted. You should not have any trouble with installation after that. Go to Rockbox Utility and try the reinstall again. Then clock OK and your iPod should have a new drive letter.Ĥ.And that's pretty much it. You change the drive letter by right clicking on the iPod in disk management->Change Drive Letter and Paths.->Change->Assign the following drive letter: and then click on the letter. If you, for whatever reason, had another drive occupying letter F, then you would have to select G as the new iPod drive letter. In the pic, I would have to change my iPod drive letter from E to F. What you're going to have to do is change the iPod drive letter to the next available letter. Again, in the previous picture I have an external hard drive eVolume that has the letter drive D, then follows my iPod at letter E. On Windows, the main disk starts at letter C, and other devices connected to your computer follow the letters sequentially. In the previous pic, my iPod has the drive letter E. Take note of what drive letter your iPod. This part involves changing the drive letter. Like so.ģ.Changing the iPod's Drive Letter. But make sure you don't have Rockbox Utility opened before following any of the steps that follow.ġ.The first thing you need to do is search for Create and format hard disk partitionsĢ.Find your iPod under the Volume column. You can either restore the iPod in Windows or just use the Rockbox Utility to remove any failed Rockbox installations or Rockbox bootloaders currently installed on the iPod. Classics store the bootloader on a chip on the iPod itself and Rockbox is stored on storage. This does not apply to 5th Generation iPod Videos since both Rockbox and the bootloader are stored on storage.
